Sawyers and four friends were driving from Murfreesboro to a party in Brentwood when Sawyers told the driver that he needed to meet someone at the TigerMart Exxon.  Sawyers got out of the car, walked to the side of the building and got into an SUV, possibly a silver GMC Envoy.  Witnesses immediately heard gunshots and the victim ran from the SUV and collapsed in front of the store.  He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

At this point, police do not know what led to the shooting that took the young man’s life. The case is being investigated by the Nashville – Metro Police Department.
