UPDATE: Arrest made in Memorial Blvd. robbery case on Wednesday

News Radio WGNS has more information on an armed robbery that occurred in Murfreesboro Thursday afternoon around 4:00 PM. The robbery was reported at the Murfreesboro Market on Memorial Boulevard.

Shortly after the robbery occurred police observed 23-year old Darnell R. Lewis walking down Northfield Boulevard approaching Highland Avenue. The man was wearing a baby blue jacket which matched the description given to dispatch by the employee in the store that was robbed.

Police pulled over and spoke to Lewis and detained the Wenlon Drive man until the victim was able to confirm he was the same man who robbed the Murfreesboro Market. Officers say that he had a 9mm handgun in his possession when they detained him.

Lewis was charged with Aggravated Robbery and Possession of a Firearm while in the commission of a Felony.

The suspect will appear in court on December 7, 2016. He currently remains jailed under a $20,000 bond in Rutherford County.
