58-Year old Joe Edward Ferguson of Murfreesboro has been arrested on a single charge of "Attempted First Degree Murder." Ferguson, who is a truck driver by trade, was arrested by warrant at the Police Department. The subject was placed under a $150,000 bond that he was able to post 2-hours after being booked at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

WGNS spoke to Ferguson on Wednesday and he told us he did not want to make a statement on the air until he speaks to his attorney. However, he did tell us that a man by the name of Bobby Hicks came at him with a knife and that was reportedly when the incident unfolded.

A police report outlining the call shows that the charge stems from an argument that occurred on September 14, 2014. 61 Year old Hicks told police that during the argument Ferguson stabbed him with a knife and struck him in the head with a baseball bat. Hicks was transported to St. Thomas Rutherford and is recovering at this time.

A preliminary court date has been set for September 29, 2014 in General Sessions Court.
