Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. UPDATE: Blackman High Coach Did Nothing Wrong

We have more news on the Blackman High School assistant wrestling coach who was accused by a student of hurting wrestlers. We have now confirmed the coach did nothing wrong. The Murfreesboro Police Department told WGNS News that On January 26, allegations from a parent of a juvenile Blackman High School student were reported in Murfreesboro (Police Incident Report #12-1659) against Blackman High School Coach Ronnie Bray concerning assault on the juvenile. The police department told us that after a thorough investigation into the allegations, investigators believe that no criminal activity occurred and the case is now considered closed. Again, Coach Ronnie Bray did nothing wrong in the case involving the student, according to the police department.
