The body of a woman has been found in Murfreesboro. The female was located in a small abandoned building in the area of Malloy Lane within the city limits.

It is believed the body of the female is that of a homeless woman. Murfreesboro Police are investigating the case. Reports indicate the body was found on Thursday afternoon. Police say the body was found in a building that was partially burned which led Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue to the scene along with the detectives.

The cause of death has not been determined.

MPD Sgt. Kyle Evans stated, "This is being investigated as a routine unattended death investigation that occurred on private property at this time. The body was sent to the Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy."
