UPDATE: Car Broken Into in Downtown Murfreesboro, Market Broken Into on Halls Hill Pike, Car Stolen

A vehicle that may have been used by a burglary suspect in the downtown Murfreesboro area has been recovered by Murfreesboro Police. Officers recovered the car on Halls hill Pike after the culprit ditched the Volkswagen on Wednesday. The VW was stolen in the area of Bell Street near the Murfreesboro Square, which is near the site of a vehicle break-in.

The car was found near the scene of another crime that occurred at the One Stop Market on Halls Hill Pike, which is several miles away from Bell Street. There, someone broke into the store and took beer, cigarettes and two cash registers. Some of the items were left behind, but the thief was nowhere to be found.

The owner of the car did not realize her vehicle was used in a burglary, or possibly burglaries much less that the car had been stolen. She said that she had a spare key in the car which is what was used to start the VW and drive away. Her car was returned and to date, the man who stole it has not been apprehend.
