38-year old Phillip McGuff of Nashville was killed in a 3 vehicle crash Thursday morning (12/11/2014) on State Route 840 near West Jefferson Pike.
Sergeant Bill Miller with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, told NewsRadio WGNS that McGuff's rear, driver's side tire blew-out on his 1994 4-door Honda. He lost control and slammed into the rear of a big rig trailer that was being pulled by 1996 Peterbilt. The Honda then careened across the median and hit a 2003 Chevy Silverado pickup head-on.
51-year old Thomas Stephenson of Thompson Station, the driver of the pick-up, was rushed to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Jerry Hurd, the 63-year old driver of the 18-wheeler, was not injured. He was from Lafayette, Tennessee.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Rayborn's report showed that all drivers were wearing safety belts.
