A crash just barely over the LaVergne City Limits line in Davidson County, claimed the life of a woman on Wednesday morning. The accident happened in the area of LaVergne Couchville Pike and Murfreesboro Road.

The woman killed in the single-car collision is identified as Brandi McCoy, 32, of Antioch Woods Way.

          
McCoy was driving her 2014 Ford Fusion east on Murfreesboro Pike when she traveled off the roadway and struck a utility pole at 2:15 a.m.  The car caught fire on impact.  
          
A friend reported that she and McCoy had been drinking prior to the crash.  Toxicology testing will be conducted to determine whether alcohol was a contributing factor.
