UPDATE: Fatal Accident from Last Week

A Murfreesboro resident was killed and another seriously injured in a crash this past week at the intersection of Double Springs Road and the John Bragg Highway.

77-year old Thomas J. Arnold died in this three vehicle crash that occured at 4:44 Thursday afternoon. Trooper Steve Manning reports that Mr. Arnold was not wearing his seat belt. He was a passenger in the 2000 Ford Taurus.

The driver of that car, 48-year old Michael L. Anderson, also of Murfreesboro, was injured. He was not wearing a seat belt either, and Trooper Mannings' notes that the restraints would have made a difference. He was taken by air ambulance to the Trauma Center at Vanderbilt.

What Happened - UPDATED?

Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesperson Kevin Crawford gave WGNS News the results of the initial investigation, "A 2000 Ford Taurus was stopped at the traffic signal on Double Spring Rd and Bragg Highway. A 1994 Ford Ranger small-size pickup was traveling east bound on Double Springs Road. A 2001 Chevy Venture mini-van was attempting to cross John Bragg Highway from Double Springs Road and pulled into the traveling path of the small Ford pickup. The mini-van and pickup collided. The Chevy mini-van rolled into and on top of the Ford Taurus auto. The Chevy Venture mini-van came to rest on its top."

Others Injured

In the Ford Ranger,there were no injuries and both persons were wearing seat belts. 48-year old Jimmy Linquist was the driver, and passenger, 1-year old Amber Fultz of Christiana was not injured.

All four persons in the Chevy mini-van were wearing seat belts and received non-life threatening injuries. The driver was 33-year old Amanda Vanatta of Christiana. Passengers included twin 4-month old brothers Braxton and Ethan Fultz, both of Christiana.
