UPDATE: Friday morning murder investigation in Murfreesboro continues

The Murfreesboro Police Department continues to investigate a Murder that occurred on Friday at an apartment on 910 Brown Drive.

Around 9 AM on Friday MPD officers responded to the apartment in reference to a deceased female in her early 20s. It was apparent to responding officers that a homicide had occurred. Detectives were notified and responded to the scene.

The MPD has confirmed the identity of the homicide victim as 22-year old Heather Nicole Maples, She would have turned 23 on the 23rd of this month (8-23-92; 910 Brown Drive Apt. 222, Murfreesboro, TN; originally from Mesquite, TX).

Investigators are seeking information regarding anyone who may have had contact with the homicide victim, Heather Maples, Thursday night and early Friday morning. Detectives believe she was at Gentleman Jims Bar on Greenland Drive Thursday night from 10:00p.m. until midnight. She then left and went to The Handlebar on E. Main Street until 12:45a.m. She then returned to Gentleman Jims on Greenland Drive and stayed until 2:00a.m. before returning home to 910 Brown Drive.

Sgt. Kyle Evans told WGNS in an email, "We believe that this was not a random act of violence and that the victim knew the suspect. Detectives are processing the scene and following up on leads."
