Two men stole nearly $700 from a cash register at Walmart on South Rutherford Boulevard in Murfreesboro. If you are like most people, you are probably scratching your head trying to figure out how this happened.

The theft was reported on Monday night shortly after 10:00. Two unknown men entered the store and headed to the tire and service center that was closed for the evening. The men can be seen on surveillance video footage prying open the cash register. A hammer was used to break into the machine. At this point police have not released that footage.

UPDATE: WGNS has now confirmed that they have struck a second Walmart store, this time on Old Fort Parkway. In that case the subjects were again caught on an in-store surveillance video camera prying open the register in the service department. Old the Old Fort store there was over $900 in the till. Despite being captured on tape, the men have not been caught. Detectives are now investigating.
