Now more on that Thursday (4/30/2015) night inferno that took a La Vergne church at 599 Waldron Road to the ground. City of La Vergne's spokesperson Kathy Tyson told NewsRadio WGNS, "A team of fire investigators is sifting through the remains, to determine the cause and the origin of the fire."

The religious campus serves three congregations. The offices of Life of Victory International Christian Ministries and the sanctuary serving Faith Life, Amazing Grace Fellowship, and Iglesia De Dios were destroyed.

"Anytime there is a fire at a place of worship, it is protocol to bring in investigators from these agencies," said Assistant Fire Chief Mike Culberson.

The investigation team consists of representatives from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Bomb and Arson Division of Tennessee State Fire Marshal's Office, La Vergne Police Department, La Vergne Fire Department, and the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.

La Vergne Police received a 911 phone call that the church, next door to Fire Station 2, was burning. The structure is in the back of a small business park, and was already fully engulfed in flames when the first unit arrived.

Responders included La Vergne Fire Department, Police Department, and Public Works Department, Smyrna Fire Department, Almaville Volunteer Fire Department, Rutherford County EMS, Box 100 Rehab, and Box 55 Rehab from Nashville. The structure, appraised at $850,000, is a total loss.

The church was headquarters to Life of Victory International Christian Ministries. The organization is a non-profit HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agency that provides Housing Counseling, Healthy Marriage and Family Resource Center, Transitional Housing, and the Rutherford County Foreclosure Prevention Task Force. Executive Director Brenda Bryant stated in a television interview that clients can continue to reach them at (615) 213-1468.
