UPDATE: Man in Murfreesboro for Wedding in 2012 Shot and Killed, Case Remains Unsolved

In September of 2012, a 52-year old man visiting Murfreesboro for a wedding was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting. Family and friends say what was supposed to be a time of celebration turned in to a time of sorrow. To date, the shooter has yet to be brought to justice. 

Mickey Simmons was standing on a corner lot near a home on East Chestnut Street when an unknown person drove by and opened fire. Family member Bobby Lynch who is in New York tells us what occurred to his cousin in 2012…

Lynch told WGNS he was not surprised Simmons died while saving the life of a child…

Lynch said he remembers the day he learned that his cousin was killed while visiting Murfreesboro like it was yesterday…

Simmons was from Alabama and this was apparently his first trip to Murfreesboro.
