UPDATE: Man who allegedly attacked ex-wife in Murfreesboro allegedly admitted to the attack
Posted: Wednesday, February 13, 2013 11:46 am We have more news on the ex-husband who allegedly attacked his ex-wife in her apartment on Mercury Boulevard early Monday morning in Murfreesboro. 46-Year old Reginald Barkley allegedly made his way into the apartment with a sledge hammer on Monday and once inside destroyed the victim’s TV with the sledge hammer. A police report shows that Barkley is accused of then moving on to attacking his ex-wife with a screwdriver. Barkley, who lives in Antioch, is also accused of cutting the woman on the scalp with a box cutter. A “domestic violence” police report shows that the attack took place with the victims’ three young children inside the apartment. The children were not physically injured in the attack. The victim was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries. This is apparently not the first time Barkley and his ex have had a problem. The victim says that Barkley struck her two to three weeks prior to this most recent assault. Again, the case on Monday involved a sledge hammer, screwdriver and box cutter. After the alleged attack, Barkley walked up to a police officer who was on the scene investigating the incident and stated, “I did it, take me to 940.” 940 is the address of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department at 940 New Salem Highway. When the officer asked, "what did you do?" The culprit stated a second time, "just take me to 940." As far as a reason for the attack, Barkley says that he caught his ex-wife with another man and “just lost control.” The victim was transported to the hospital after the incident and is said to be doing better, as of Wednesday. Barkley remains jailed under a $500,000 bond. Barkley was charged with aggravated assault, especially aggravated burglary, attempted second degree homicide, and vandalism. Pictured: Barkley
