Fire investigators were back at the scene Tuesday morning of the 603 North Maney Avenue house fire that happened just before 9:00 pm Monday. “Preliminary investigations indicate accidental cause, yet the fire is still under investigation,” said Assistant Fire Marshal Tracy Summar.

Four engine companies and two rescues worked to extinguish Monday night’s blaze. Crews had difficulty accessing the attic due to the second floor ceiling but were eventually able to knock the fire down. Firefighters were on scene extinguishing hotspots until just after midnight.

The Murfreesboro Fire Department was able to contain the fire to the attic and roof area of the home. The home received moderate smoke and water damage throughout the structure, but no fire damage in the living quarters. “Fire crews did a great job fighting this fire. They were able to keep it from hitting the ground. I am proud of our personnel,” said Summar.

The house is divided into four apartments, one of which is vacant. The residents from the three occupied apartments were displaced but were able to receive assistance from the American Red Cross.
