UPDATE: Murfreesboro Murder Case in Court This Week

A 23-year old Nashville man who reportedly took the life of a Murfreesboro resident will appear in court this week. The murder in question took place this past February at 1306 Eagle Street. Killed was 20-year old Tijuandre Garrett who suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Through the course of the investigation, Detectives developed Juan Carlos Carachure of Nashville as the suspect. He will face charges of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Robbery when he appears in court this Friday (8/5/16) for what is called a "Discovery Date." The Discovery is the pre-trial phase where the accused learns of evidence against him that was previously collected by police.

Text messages in the phone belonging to the victim showed that Garrett was supposed to pay Carachure $1,675 for a half pound of marijuana on the day the two met. It was during that meeting that Garrett was shot and killed, allegedly by Carachure.

The suspect remains behind bars at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center in Murfreesboro.
