UPDATE: Name of LaVergne resident struck and killed on I-24 released

WGNS has more information on the pedestrian who was struck and killed early Saturday morning on I-24 East near Bell Road. The victim was identified as Edwin Josue Reyes Hernandez, 28, of LaVergne, Tennessee.

Hernandez was crossing from the south side of the interstate to the north (Hickory Hollow Mall side) when he was initially struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic sub-compact car driven by Kathleen Tozer, 23, of Ashland City.

The pedestrian was then hit by a silver car, believed, from parts left in the roadway, to be a 2003 to 2007 model Infiniti G35.  Tozer stopped at the scene.  The driver of the silver car did not stop and is being sought for questioning by Metro / Nashville Police.  Anyone with information about that vehicle is urged to contact the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600.

There was no indication of alcohol involvement at the scene.  No charges are anticipated against Tozer.
