Construction of a new roof at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center will be delayed by at least a week. Sheriff's Department spokesperson Lisa Marchesoni tells NewsRadio WGNS work will not begin this week because the crane is broken.

The Sheriff's Office received a grant to replace the roof from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. When the project begins, it's expected to continue about three months. Parking will be affected there as construction workers spray materials that could damage vehicles.

"We ask visitors to be patient during the project," Sheriff Arnold said.

When the work begins, visitors will be asked to enter the Sheriff's Office grounds from Malloy Lane near Heritage Dairy and park in the grass.

Handicapped people may park is the same designated areas. On days when the spray may affect vehicles parked in the handicapped spaces, the Sheriff's Office will make accommodations for handicapped people to park in another space and employees will assist them.

Deliveries should not be affected.
