UPDATE: Three Shot on June 23rd At Thai Restaurant - One Dead - One Suspect to Appear in Court This Month

WGNS has a new update on the shooting that occurred on June 23rd at the Souksavahn Restaurant located on Almaville Road in Smyrna. One of two suspects by the name of Timmy Nouanemany (pictured right) will appear in court this month (on 9/16/13). The 23 year old is being charged with the Attempted Murder of Banthavong Senesena of Nashville. The attempted murder allegedly took place at the Thai restaurant in Smyrna. The suspect was arrested at his parents’ house in Nashville.

After Nouanemany was arrested, he was brought to the Smyrna Police Department where he was processed and then placed in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center under a $500,000 bond. He was later released after appearing in court for a hearing on July 22nd.

Another suspect is still wanted by police for his alleged involvement in the shooting. Forty-six-year-old Bounthavy Mickey Mouthouta also known as “Soviet”, whose last known address was 105 Riddick Court, Murfreesboro, is wanted for one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder. One of two victims died in the shooting. The man who died was John Bouavong.

Description of the Wanted Suspect:

The suspect is described as an Asian male whose last known address is 105 Riddick Court in Murfreesboro. Mouthouta is 46 years of age, 5’5” tall, 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, and is believed to be driving a 2004 Silver Honda Accord bearing Tennessee license plate 093-NGR.  Mouthouta is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Mr. Mouthouta is encouraged to call their local police or sheriff’s department or they can call the Smyrna Police Department at 615-459-6644.

We have more news on a shooting that unfolded in Smyrna on Sunday morning, June 23rd just before 2AM. 31-year old John Bouavong of Murfreesboro died Friday evening (6/28/2013).

The incident took place at the Souksavanh Thai Restaurant located at 1890 Almaville Road. Three victims were found in the parking lot of the establishment after a shooting was reported at the restaurant.

Shot was 31-year old John Bouavong from Murfreesboro. He was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died on June 28th (Please see below statement from Police Chief Kevin Arnold). Also shot was 25-year old Tommy Nouanemany from Nashville. He too was transported to Vanderbilt. The third victim in the Smyrna case was 41-year old Banthavong Sesesena from Antioch. He was taken to StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna where he was treated and released.

The case is under investigation by the Smyrna Police Department and at this point, no arrests have been made. Smyrna Police Chief Kevin Arnold told WGNS that suspects have been developed, but their names will not be released at this point.

Smyrna Police Chief Kevin Arnold Comments on the Death of Bouavong:

It is with deep regret that the Smyrna Police Department announces that one of the victims from the shooting on June 23rd at the Souksavanh Restaurant has passed away. Victim John Bouavong, 31 years of age, from Murfreesboro, Tennessee passed away during the evening on June 28th. The crime against Mr. Bouavong has been upgraded from an aggravated assault to Murder.

The Smyrna Police Department Detective Division has worked tirelessly for over a week attempting to identify suspects and witnesses from this shooting. But, we cannot do our job without the help from the people we work for. We plead that anyone with any information on this crime please call the Smyrna Police Department at 615-459-6644. This occurred on June 23rd between the hours of 1:00am and 1:40am. Again we ask that anyone that has any information on this crime to contact us.

Previous Statement Released by the Smyrna Police Chief Directly After Shooting:

On Sunday June 23rd at approximately 1:39am the Smyrna Police Department received a call from Souksavanh Restaurant located at 1890 Almaville Road Suite 100 that there had been a shooting and several subjects were hurt. Found in the parking lot were three victims that were injured by gunshots.

Victim #1, John Bouavong, 31 years of age from Murfreesboro, was transported by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt Hospital and is still listed in critical condition. Victim #2, Tommy Nouanemany, 25 years of age from Nashville, was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital by ambulance and is still hospitalized today. Victim #3, Banthavong Sesesena, 41 years of age from Antioch, was transported to Stone Crest Hospital where he was treated and released. Detectives from the Smyrna Police Department are still investigating this shooting and have developed suspects, of which we are not ready to release names or motives. When more developments come available we will release it as soon as possible.
