UPDATE: WGNS has more news on two semi-trucks that were involved in a Wednesday morning accident on I-24 in Rutherford County.
The Highway Patrol told WGNS that 32-year old Steve Ormes was driving a large Mack truck and was traveling west on I-24 when he struck the rear trailer of another truck. Ormes, who is from Murfreesboro, then ran off the interstate crashing and overturning in a wooded area near State Route 840.
The THP did confirm that Ormes was injured and charges are pending. The driver of the truck that was first struck by Ormes was not injured. It was also confirmed that no signs of alcohol or drugs were present, but that Ormes was not wearing a safety belt when the truck he was operating overturned. He was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center via LifeFlight Helicopter.
