Victim Robbed of Purse While Loading Groceries

A woman was robbed of her purse on Thursday while loading her groceries in the parking lot of a local grocery store on South East Broad Street. The 62-year old victim told police as she was putting her groceries in her car, a man rode by on a bike and grabbed her purse. The incident happened at the United Grocery Outlet.

Within minutes police found the suspect riding his bike down Broad Street. Officers arrested 34-year old Robert Ray Mears and charged him with robbery and theft. Mears will be in court on December 17.

The Murfreesboro Social Security Office has reduced public office hours 30-minutes each weekday. It is now open Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 3:00PM.
