Last Friday, United Way volunteers from local companies participated in the second annual Hometown Huddle event. This year, volunteers refurbished 13 playgrounds in Rutherford County, doubling from last year. Playgrounds that were refurbished included Campus School, Scales Elementary, Blackman Elementary, Reeves-Rogers Elementary, Mitchell-Neilson Elementary, John Pittard Elementary, Walter Hill Elementary, Smyrna Primary, Roy Waldron Elementary, La Vergne Lake Elementary, La Vergne Primary, and the Boys and Girls Club of Rutherford County.

This event was designed to highlight the importance of healthy choices at an early age. As one of its impact areas, United Way believes that health is one of the building blocks for a good quality of life.
