Warrant for Animal Cruelty Charge Filed Against 18-Year Old Murfreesboro Man

A Murfreesboro Police Officer witnessed a suspect punch and kick a dog at a home on Castle Street near Highland Avenue. Police made contact with the individual whom told officers he kicked and hit the dog because he did not know of another way to correct it. The officer wrote in a report that the dog yelped and cowered down when the 18-year old hit and punched the animal.

A warrant for the suspects arrest was later obtained. The charge is cruelty to animals. The case was also referred to the Pet Adoption and Welfare Services office in Rutherford County to follow up on the well being of the pit-bull dog.
