Wear RED This Friday
Murfreesboro preschoolers are joining in the red fun this Friday for National Wear Red Day.
It’s all part of the 10th Annual National Wear Red Day that day, reminding everyone that heart disease is still the No. 1 killer of women age 20 and over, killing approximately one woman every minute, including about 9000 Tennessee women per year. More women die of heart disease than the next four causes of death combined, including all forms of cancer. National Wear Red Day is part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® movement to make women aware of their risk of heart disease and learn how to make healthy lifestyle changes to prevent it. Up to 80% of cardiovascular disease is preventable.
Primrose Murfreesboro is asking all of their students, team members and families to help support the fight against heart disease, by wearing red all day on National Wear Red Day this Friday, February 1st. Working with Saint Thomas Heart and Middle Tennessee Medical Center, the school has asked all families to send their child to school on Friday wearing red.
The day marks support for women’s fight against heart disease, their No. 1 killer. Heart disease alone kills nearly 7000 women each year in Tennessee, more than all forms of cancer combined. This year is the 10th anniversary of Go Red For Women.
And here in Murfreesboro babies born on Friday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center will wear custom-made red knit caps – instead of the traditional pink and blue – in honor of National Wear Red Day. Many of the women in these babies’ lives, including their mothers, grandmothers, aunts and sisters, or even the babies themselves, could be affected by heart disease at some point during their lifetime.
