Wednesday Meeting on Maney Avenue Project

In another effort to let residents and business owners in the South Maney Avenue study area have an opportunity to learn about proposed amendments to the zoning ordinance and the creation of a City Core Overlay (CCO) district, Murfreesboro planners are hosting a neighborhood meeting July 25 at 5 p.m. in Patterson Park Community Center, 521 Mercury Blvd.

The meeting will be open to the public and all those interested in the zoning for the S. Maney Study Area.

“The July 25 meeting is an opportunity for property owners, residents and anybody interested in learning about the amendments proposed to create the City Core Overlay (CCO)   ,” Planning Director Joseph Aydelott said.
The first 15 to 20 minutes will allow opportunities to see the exhibits, review the handout materials and socialize a bit, Aydelott explained. Then there will be a formal 30-minute presentation by the Planning Staff, followed by a questions and answers period.  The meeting should be over by 7 or 7:30 p.m., he said.
The Director pointed out this will be a public ‘meeting’ and not a public ‘hearing’ though he and his staff will ask people to send their thoughts and comments by mail, email, or by responding online.

Revitalization of the South Maney Avenue area has been a long process and keeping area residents and business owners informed has been one of the primary goals, he said. Holding periodic public meetings has been one way to do that.
