TSSAA Spring Fling, an Olympic-style event featuring the state's top athletes, will take place in Rutherford County next week, May 19-23. The best high school athletes in the state will compete for championships in tennis, baseball, softball, soccer, and track & field.
Held at 13 different venues across Rutherford County, this week-long event brings in 5,000 athletes and approximately 25,000 spectators. Forty-four champions are crowned in five days during this exciting week of competitions.
"Hotels will be full and local restaurants will be very busy during the week," said Barbara Wolke, vice president of the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "With an economic impact of $3.5 million, Spring Fling is not only a great boost to our economy but also offers some quality family entertainment."
Rutherford County has hosted Spring Fling since 2006 and currently has the contract through 2017. It takes approximately 1,000 community volunteers to make this event happen each year.
General admission tickets are $10 per day. For a complete schedule, results and scores visit www.tssaa.org.
Blue Raider Sports Properties, a division of Learfield Sports, is happy to announce that a three-year extension has been added to the broadcast agreement with NewsRadio WGNS Radio. The affiliation between Blue Raider Athletics and WGNS dates back to 1947 and, for the biggest part of those 68 years, has been a broadcast outlet for Middle Tennessee. The new agreement will mean that Blue Raider Network programming will be heard on NewsRadio WGNS through at least 2018.
