WGNS' Rafferty Cleary has been nominated as a finalist in the Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters College Award contest. Cleary along with former MTSU classmate Jordan Taylor were nominated for best sports coverage. It was a clean sweep for MTSU in the best sports coverage category as MTSU classmates Justin Beasley and Lena Rose were also nominated for the award. Cleary's and Taylor's video content was titled, MTSU's Hidden Architect: James "Boots" Donnelly. The video, which features former MTSU football coach and Athletic Director James "Boots" Donnelly, discusses the former coaches time at the University as well as life after coaching. You can view the video by clicking play on the link below. All together, there were 14 finalist from the MTSU Electronic Media Communications department. The winners will be announced on March 22nd.
Blue Raider Sports Properties, a division of Learfield Sports, is happy to announce that a three-year extension has been added to the broadcast agreement with NewsRadio WGNS Radio. The affiliation between Blue Raider Athletics and WGNS dates back to 1947 and, for the biggest part of those 68 years, has been a broadcast outlet for Middle Tennessee. The new agreement will mean that Blue Raider Network programming will be heard on NewsRadio WGNS through at least 2018.
