WGNS talks to a recently retired worker at a long time family business

We recently had the opportunity to talk to a recently retired employee of a long time WGNS advertiser and family run business. Loyce Mitchell worked at Bud’s Tire for many years. Prior to working at the tire shop, she worked at the grocery store that was also owned by the Mitchell family that was directly across the street from where the tire shop sits today. That grocery store is now a hardware store.

In case you’re wondering, Mrs. Mitchell was married to Bud Mitchell’s uncle. Bud is the owner of Bud’s Tire and the hardware store that is across the street. 

The store that now sells hardware goods was built on Woodbury Pike in 1965. The Mitchell family has owned that property since 1947, the same year that WGNS came on the air.
