All across Tennessee road work is ramping up and creating traffic challenges. City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran says the same is true in the 'Boro. Here are Ram's areas to avoid through April 19th.

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm:  Bridge work continues over CSX Railroad.  Box culvert construction work continues on the north and side of Joe B Jackson Pkwy near S Church Street.  Grading work continues on the north side of Joe B Jackson between Parsons Rd and S Church Street.  Public utility service connection work continues along Joe B Jackson between S Church Street and Stevens Bend Road.  There will be incidental lane closures for deliveries and traffic interruptions.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Overall Creek Elementary School Roadway Project (Veterans Pkwy at Mooreland Lane)

Expected Road Closures:  September 3rd 2013 through June 21st 2014:  Mooreland Lane at Veterans Pkwy closed in preparation for the new roadway construction and utility work.  All traffic to and from Veterans Pkwy and Mooreland Lane will be detoured through State Route 96 and Rucker Lane.  Proper traffic controls will be in place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  6:30 am to 4:30 pm:  Utility and grading work continues along Veterans Pkwy.  Box culvert construction work continues near Valley View Subdivision.  Storm drain installation continues between Saint Andrews Dr. and Cason Lane.  There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Southwest Force Main Project (W College Street/Old Nashville Highway)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  Contractor for Water &Sewer Department will be installing force sewer main lines W College St/Old Nashville Highway near Thompson Lane.  W College Street/Old Nashville Highway will be reduced to one lane with flagging operation.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Thursday April 10 through Tuesday, April 15, 8:00 pm to 5:00 am:  There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Memorial Blvd and W College Street in order to prepare for traffic shift.  There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions.  College Street at its intersection with Memorial Blvd will be permanently closed on Wednesday, April 16.   College Street can still be accessed from the downtown area roadway network.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Murfreesboro Electric New Sub-Station Project (Rutherford Blvd just north of MTSU Blvd)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm:  As part of new sub-station, the contractor for Murfreesboro Electric Department will be working on the utility poles along Rutherford Blvd between MTSU Blvd and Greenland Drive.  There will be alternating lane closures on Rutherford Blvd northbound and southbound during this work.  Traffic will be reduced from two lanes to one lane each direction.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Milling and Re-paving work on New Salem Highway at Warrior Drive

Expected Lane Closures:  Saturday April 12:  9:00 am to 2:00 pm:  The striping contractor for the SpeedwayDevelopment will be installing final pavement markings on New Salem Highwayjust south of Warrior Drive.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions on New Salem Highway.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
