Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Woman Accused of Leaving Sister In Shed in Court Now

Tracy Carmen Thacker, who is charged with reckless endangerment and two counts of willful neglect and abuse, has now been charged with kidnapping. Thacker is the woman accused of locking her sister in a burned out shed located behind her house in Beech Grove. An additional charge of aggravated kidnapping was added to charges Thursday before her appearance in Coffee County General Sessions Court. During the preliminary hearing investigator Danny Ferrell testified that while conducting a criminal history on Thacker he found that she has 7 aliases and 4 social security numbers. Her bond of $400,000 was lowered to $200,000. Thacker is to return to court on January 12.
