Applying for a loan online may be a good thing for some, but for others the end result can equal fraud. A local woman called the police department after she was told by a fictitious company that she was approved to receive a loan. The company had what appeared to be a real business related website, email addresses and contact information. The problem is, the company was a phony.

The woman was talked into sending the organization over $1,200 for processing the loan. The money was never returned to her and the money from the make believe loan never came through. The victim is now out $1,226.
