World's Largest Square Dance in Murfreesboro?

Calling all square dancers, square dance wannabes or world record seekers. Organizers of Uncle Dave Macon Days have a new event for you. This year, they'll attempt to break the Guinness record for the World's Largest Square Dance.

On the evening of July 7th, at 6 pm, a true Tennessee favorite will be introduced on the Public Square in Murfreesboro with Marcia Campbell from Grand Ole Opry Dancers. This free event drawing thousands will kick-off Uncle Dave Macon Days 2016 and bring folks back to the Square where the festival began nearly 40 years ago. 808 people are needed to break the record.

According to the State of Tennessee, the square dance is the official dance of Tennessee, but the record for the World's Largest Square Dance is now held in Illinois.
