The worst ice storm in 20-years for Rutherford County highlighted the month of February and now March is coming in like a lion!

Middle Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau was hard hit by the worst ice storm since 1995 this year. Schools were out for a week as reinforcing shots of ice and snow created hazardous road conditions. The 32.5-degree average for February also make it the coldest February since 1978 and the ninth coldest since weather records have been kept.

We are going to see a nice warmup over the next couple of days, only to see Old Man Winter rear his ugly head. We will go from thunderstorms and 60's to ice and snow and 20's from Tuesday to Wednesday. The colder air will change rain to freezing rain, sleet and snow by Wednesday. Some ice accumulation is possible and there could be three-inches or more of snow with this weather system. Travel will quickly become hazardous Wednesday afternoon in northwestern Middle Tennessee, sweeping into our area by Wednesday evening. Highs on Thursday will remain below freezing and Thursday night lows will be between 5-and-15 degrees.
