About three and a half years ago, a Seigel High School honor student was tragically killed in a single-car crash. The First Noelle honors Miranda Noelle Henson by giving books to local kindergarten and first grade students. This coming St. Patrick's Day, Peter D's Restaurant is helping the community to be a part of that cause.

Kristin Demos told NewsRadio WGNS, "When customers buy any item from our special St. Patty's Day menu, we'll donate a new Dr. Suess Book to The First Noelle. I am hoping to break the bank donating books for this wonderful cause! And yes, we will have a Green Egg and Ham Omelette on the menu."

Demos noted that the special menu at the popular 2357 Medical Center Parkway eatery is available only on St. Patrick's Day, and that's Tuesday, March 17th.

So, how does helping kindergarten and first grade students honor a high school senior who tragically lost her life?

Miranda Noelle Henson was alone and driving to a high school football game the night of October 27, 2011, when she died in a single-vehicle crash near Central Valley Road and highway 231.

Henson was an honor student who attended the Governor's School at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga the summer before her death.

Her mother, Tina, recalls that Noelle had a passion for special needs children and tutored many. She believed in a hands-on approach, and her dream was to pursue a degree in education as well as medicine. That way Noelle could work on both educational and medical solutions to help these children.

A year after her daughter's death, Tina announced the founding of the non-profit First Noelle. Not only does it fund educational material for children, but the Miranda Noelle Henson Memorial Scholarship helps seniors pursue their dreams of a college education.

That's why Peter D's Restaurant, a local family business, is working to keep Miranda Noelle Henson's dream alive with this St. Patrick's Day event.
