Youth Empowerment through Arts & Humanities, Inc. (YEAH!) announces its 2014 season of summer commercial music camps. YEAH! is excited to bring three weeks of camp to the Middle Tennessee community of students and musicians. Southern Girls Rock and Roll Camp (SGRRC) is a summer day camp for girls ages 10-17. The program was chosen as the “Best Kids' Music Program” by Nashville Scene’s Best of Nashville 2012 awards. Tennessee Teens Rock Camp (TNTRC) is a summer day camp for girls and boys ages 10-17. TNTRC was chosen as the “Best New Music Camp For Kids” by Nashville Scene’s Best of Nashville 2010 awards. YEAH! was named “Best Youth Music” by the 2013 Best of Nashville awards.

SGRRC's and TNTRC’s mission is to support a culture of positive self-esteem and collaboration among young people while building community through a conservatory style music atmosphere. At camp, students can choose from lessons in guitar, bass, vocals, drums, keyboards, along with using other instruments. Students take such workshops as songwriting, recording technology, photography, and music history. As the highlight of camp, students will form their own bands, write their own songs, receive ensemble instruction, watch concerts by professional musicians, and grow their talents. On

the camp’s last day, all camp attendees will perform original and cover songs with their bands on-stage in a performance showcase. This showcase is open to the public, giving our bands the opportunity to perform in front of families, friends, teachers, and fans.

“These camps provide programs and instruction that students do not get otherwise,” says YEAH! Administrative Director Josh Hildebrandt. “For Middle Tennessee communities, students who enjoy or are interested in playing say guitar, writing songs, singing on stage, or learning more about the music industry have a place where they can learn from professionals and find a community of fellow students. To guarantee every student is given an opportunity, we provide vast need based scholarships to help with attending the programs.”
