Saint Thomas Medical Partners (STMP) is pleased to accept a $12,446 grant for Our Mission in Motion (OMIM). OMIM prioritizes uninsured, low-income women in historically underserved communities. Since 2011, OMIM has provided 22,800 screening mammograms at 1,500 events held across 26 counties in Middle Tennessee.
Awarded by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, this grant will fund 90 free screening mammograms to women in need across Bedford, Coffee, and Warren counties. Mobile mammography eliminates the many time and transportation barriers to annual mammograms. OMIM ensures accessibility by traveling at least five days per week to reach women at community clinics, health departments, banks, schools, churches, and places of employment.
"Saint Thomas Medical Partners and Our Mission in Motion are so grateful to continue our tremendous partnership with The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee," said Yvette Doran, President and CEO, Saint Thomas Medical Partners. "By improving access to mammography screening and educational resources, OMIM has the potential to increase positive health behaviors and save lives."
Saint Thomas Medical Partners is a physician-led medical group with facility locations across Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky. STMP is one of the largest medical providers in the region, with over 650 providers, 100 facilities, and 46 specialties in 44 counties. STMP is a part of Ascension Medical Group, which spans 21 states and includes more than 9000 providers.
"The work of our nonprofit partners has never been more important as we watch needs emerge and evolve in this community," said Ellen Lehman, President, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. "The Community Foundation is honored to connect generosity with need through these annual grants and other avenues throughout the year, but we couldn't have an impact without the array of quality nonprofits offering solutions to our community's needs and vital services to our neighbors."
The Community Foundation awards discretionary grants annually from its unrestricted and field-of-interest funds through an open application process to Middle Tennessee nonprofits organizations addressing community needs and benefiting the well-being of citizens through valuable programs and innovative services.
