Riverdale Football Player Remembered

This was supposed to be moving week for a former Riverdale football player. Mitchell Maxwell, an offensive lineman, was found dead in his home on the 4th of July. This was to be the week his family moved him to Mississippi State, where he was planning to walk-on to the football team. Coach Ron Aydelott says Maxwell was a fierce competitor...

Questions remain as to what caused the young man's death. His parents, Austin and Claire Maxwell, were out of town and one of his brothers found him in their home last Thursday. An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church downtown at 2pm today (Monday) with burial to follow. Along with his parents, Mitchell is survived by his brothers Matthew, Manning and Michael. Along with his three brothers, former teammates Scottie Boykin, Josh Hatfield, Aaron Aydelott, Dillion Woodruff and Kyle Blevins will serve as pallbearers.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made in honor of Mitchell Maxwell to a local charity “In Full Motion.”
