Murfreesboro City Schools is pleased to announce the new mascot and logo for Overall Creek Elementary. Overall Creek will be known as the home of the Otters with a purple and gold color theme.

“The school committee chose “otters” as the mascot due to the main attributes of Tennessee Otters being highly intelligent and extremely curious,” says Don Bartch, principal of Overall Creek. “Otters are known for their problem solving skills and continuous learning. We want our students to strive for those same attributes.

Overall Creek Elementary will offer an environmental focus with outdoor classrooms and a hands-on science experience.

“MCS is excited to share the new Overall Creek logo.  The logo captures the spirit and eagerness of our staff and future students. Logos are the first impression of any institution,” says Lisa Trail, MCS director of communications. “We feel the colors as well as the graphics will relate easily to our student demographics and will work nicely for many future activities. Our goal was to create a point of recognition for our new campus.”

The colors are a deep, rich shade of purple and gold. The logotype treatment creates an energetic look and with two complementary designs, the logos will work on everything from a gym floor to a t-shirt.

Overall Creek Elementary will open for the 2014-15 school year. The school is located off Mooreland Lane, east of Veterans Parkway and south of Franklin Road near the Blackman community. The two-story school is designed for up to 1,000 students and will feature modern design and creativity.

The creative group of Barker & Christol Advertising worked with Murfreesboro City School staff to design the logo.
