Murfreesboro’s public transportation system ROVER will offer the public free bus fares and refreshments July 15 at the service’s transfer center on the northeast corner of Walnut and Burton streets.
A free lunch, including hot dogs, sodas and chips will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to Murfreesboro Assistant Transportation Director Nellie Patton. Funding comes from ROVER’s Public Transit marketing allocation.
Patton says the event is part of the department’s contribution to Murfreesboro’s current citywide focus on customer service excellence and is a celebration of the completion of ROVER’s first transit shelter.
"We realize that ROVER customers have patiently waited for the completion of the transit shelter at the transfer hub since the inception of ROVER in 2007,” she said. “The public transit portion of the City of Murfreesboro’s transportation department has been fortunate enough to complete this great facility and wants to show its appreciation to the citizens of Murfreesboro for their patronage.”
