Thanks to the bravery of three emergency responders from the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office, a family of four was rescued from the swift waters of the Stones River near the Elam Road Slab. Currents swept their Nissan car into the river, and Deputy Moses Mosby was on-the-scene almost instantly. Deputy Mosby and Deputy Mike Farmer quickly anchored a rope. That allowed Lieutenant Chris Haynes to enter the raging river and rescue the family. The Demos' family honor Rutherford County Sheriff's Deputies Moses Mosby and Mike Farmer, along with Lieutenant Chris Haynes for this "life saving" act of bravery.
