Around 4:45 Wednesday (7/1/2015) afternoon Murfreesboro police officers were on the scene of a shoplifting call at the WalMart on Old Fort Pkwy when the suspects attempted to run over the responding officers. When the subject allegedly tried to hit the officers, the police were on foot.

The police attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. However, they refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated. After traveling several miles, the suspects entered I-24 at the S. Church Street ramp. The vehicle left I-24 and traveled into the grassy area between the interstate and the on-ramp. The suspect vehicle drove into the path of perusing officers and a minor crash occurred. The suspect vehicle could not travel any further due to the steep terrain.

All three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without incident. No one was injured during the incident.

Arrested was the driver of the car in question, J. Paul Registar, age 45 of Jackson, Tennessee. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of reckless endangerment in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
