A two-car rear-end collision on I-24 at Medical Center Parkway created grid-lock traffic and delayed the funeral entourage of slain Navy Petty Officer Randall Smith for about a half-hour Friday night.
Traffic was already extremely heavy as residents went to bridges that cross I-24 to pay respects to the fallen hero and show support for our military.
The heavy traffic that totally filled all exit lanes from I-24 onto Medical Center Parkway created a challenge for Murfreesboro Police, Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Rutherford County Emergency Medical Service who were trying to weave through traffic and assist those involved in the crash.
