A man with a gun outside the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center campus in Murfreesboro caused quite a scare. The incident happened around 6pm Wednesday night when officials said a man with a gun was walking near the urgent care center. The police presence drew attention to the campus at the corner of Thompson Lane and Memorial Boulevard.
According to Lisa Marchesoni with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, "A suicidal man called 911. Sheriff's Office, Murfreesboro Police and the VA Police responded to the call where they found the man in a vehicle. Sgt. Derek Oeser quickly negotiated a peaceful surrender. The man stepped out of the vehicle and complied with all commands. He was taken to the Emergency Room for treatment."
