A listener phoned WGNS to let us know that while they were going to the grocery during the recent winter storm, they came upon Murfreesboro Police Officer Terry Spence who was shoveling snow and ice from a sidewalk. They stopped and talked with Officer Spence and he told them that he was doing this because he was concerned that someone might slip, fall and hurt themselves. The listener was so amazed that a policeman would do this simply to help others, and noted "This wouldn't have happened in the town where I used to live." Officer Spence has received this honor many times in the past. Several were from those who had been stopped by Officer Spence for speeding or were involved in a traffic crash. All sang praises on his concern for the betterment of others.
