Rutherford County Schools accept bid to build new Smyrna area school

The Rutherford County School system is moving ahead with plans for new schools.

Currently, site preparations are underway for the soon to be built Rocky Fork Middle School in Smyrna. In fact, the county school board accepted a bid of $33.98 million to build the new school.

The winning bid was actually the only bid entered for consideration. It was filed by R.G. Anderson and Company and then approved by the Rutherford County School Board Tuesday night.

Rutherford County Schools has added approximately 10,000 new students during the past 10 years and projections indicate enrollment will increase by another 12,000-13,000 students during the next 10 years.
