Just weeks before its one-year anniversary, Murfreesboro-based UFIT Personal Training announces the addition of two personal trainers to its fitness team.
Adam Moosekian, CPT, and Ethan Black bring their athletic backgrounds to the personal training studio with one goal in mind: help clients reach their health and fitness goals.
"Our clients have learned to expect a high quality, results-oriented, and fun experience from our team," said UFIT co-owner, Chris Maxey. "We are thrilled to add Adam and Ethan to our roster. Their knowledge of the health and wellness field, coupled with their genuine care for our clients, fits right in with our UFIT culture."
Moosekian began playing sports at a young age and has always lived an active lifestyle, but he became interested in personal training after helping his mom prepare for bariatric surgery.
She had Type II Diabetes, high blood pressure, and was clinically obese, but needed to lose weight before the surgery.
"We began walking three times a week and going to the gym twice a week; she lost 78 pounds and has kept if off for a full year," Moosekian said. "Knowing that I made that big of a difference in her life made me want to help others."
A Smyrna-native and father of two, Moosekian is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science at MTSU and has been with UFIT since mid-March. In just a short amount of time, his clients have already experienced positive changes - both physically and emotionally.
"All my clients are dropping body fat, their confidence and energy levels are increasing because they're on the right diet, and they're seeing the results they want," Moosekian said.
He also stressed the importance that clients must make a complete lifestyle change. That includes tracking dietary habits, setting calorie goals, and making slow changes.
"I want them to feel better about themselves and to be the person I know they can be," Moosekian said. "Some clients lack the confidence to reach that goal, so I provide that extra push they need."
While Moosekian and Black both credit their passion for physical fitness to their athletic upbringings, Black's history with basketball is what brought him to MTSU.
A natural athlete, Black has played basketball all his life; he excelled in high school, then played for Hanover College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Movement Studies. Now, he works as a graduate assistant with MTSU Men's Basketball team while pursuing a Master of Science in Leisure and Sport Management.
"Basketball is definitely what brought me to Murfreesboro," he said, adding that his grandparents are former MTSU professors who put him in touch with Coach Kermit Davis.
Once he moved to Murfreesboro, it didn't take long for him to find UFIT Personal Training.
"I have a strong academic background in exercise science, and I enjoy working with people one-on-one in a personal training environment to help them make lifestyle changes."
He pointed out that his hometown of Evansville, Ind. was named "Fattest City in America" just a few years ago. That further inspired him to make a difference.
"Being physically active is something I've always done," he said. "I want to lead by example and show that anyone can do it. I'll pass on the knowledge that I've gained throughout the years and coach clients through the process."
Black brings his coaching mentality to UFIT and wants clients to think of him as their fitness coach.
"It's a balance of pushing clients to their limits and knowing their limits, and that's different with each person," he said. "The more I work with them, the more I'll get to know their limits. Everyone has individual goals, and I want to help them accomplish those goals."
