School Resource Officers identified and are now talking with a student who made "inappropriate comments" about Stewarts Creek High School Tuesday night on social media, an SRO captain said.
Extra SROs were sent to the high school Wednesday morning as a precaution and the school was placed on lockdown until about 9:30 a.m. SROs searched the school but didn't locate anything that caused alarm, said SRO Capt. Barry Hendrixson.
Patrol deputies learned about the complaint early Wednesday morning and notified the SROs who formulated a response plan. Before students arrived, SROs were at the school and started the investigation.
SROs identified the boy about 11 a.m. and began talking with him.
"In the weeks prior, students attended a cyber-bullying lecture and that's how the reporting student knew how to handle the situation and how to report the information," Capt. Hendrixson said.
