Catalytic converter stolen in church parking lot

The last time WGNS reported a catalytic converter being stolen off of a vehicle was this past June, but it appears as if it has happened again.

This time around, an employee at Bellaire Baptist Church told police that the emission device was stolen off of a church van. The theft was reported on Wednesday.

Catalytic converters are often stolen so thieves can obtain the small amount of precious metals inside of them. The converters contain precious metals such as platinum and palladium that can be resold for about $75 to $150 each.

No arrests have been made.
