The 200th Anniversary of Murfreesboro kicked off on Monday. The event took place on the Civic Plaza. During the event, Murfreesboro Mayor Tommy Bragg told those in attendance Monday would mark the first month of a yearlong celebration...

Past Mayor Richard Reeves

Over the next 12-months our faith, arts, roads, rails and trails, work, history and education will all be celebrated. Each month will bring with it a different event topic.

Former Murfreesboro Mayor Richard Reeves says he's honored to live in Murfreesboro and to have been a public servant for the city...

Former 6th District US Congressman Bart Gordon

Former U-S Congressman Bart Gordon was also a guest speaker. Under Gordon, Murfreesboro saw the growth a children’s museum and a vast amount of greenway space throughout the city. Murfreesboro also saw the addition of new roads and highways under Gordon...

Gordon said that today, Murfreesboro has a population of 110,000 residents and growing while other counties have actually seen a decline in their population.

Flag Ceremony

The Honor Guard of the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue as well Murfreesboro Police Department ceremoniously raised Old Glory as well as the state flag. In addition, the official Murfreesboro Bicentennial flag flew above the celebrants on the Civic Plaza.

Of course the event could not be complete without a birthday cake. Jay Qualls designed the massive cake for the city.
