Shortly after 1:00 o'clock Tuesday (5/9/2017) afternoon, a Murfreesboro City School's maintenance truck caught on fire in the front lawn of Northfield Elementary School. Black plumes of smoke could be seen around the neighborhood.
City School's spokesperson Lisa Trail said, "When the fire began, the crew was removing a tree from the school's campus and were trying to keep it from falling into the roadway."
It is not known what caused the vehicle to catch on fire.
The pickup was fully engulfed in flames before units from Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department arrives at the school. Northfield Elementary School is at 550 West Northfield Boulevard.
